hi! i’m jon!

I found my passion for design a little later in life. For the first ten years of my career I worked for a variety of engineering and architecture firms as a drafting technician creating technical blueprints and plans. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I made the choice to pursue a degree in design and made a concerted effort to change my career and my life.

Though I have now made the transition to a career in design, my time in engineering has certainly influenced me as a designer. Clean grids and strong typography are a staple in my work, but I also heavily rely on my optimistic, colorful personality to inform my conceptual ideas and broader design thinking.

Most importantly, through this entire journey, I have been driven by a desire to use design to help others achieve their goals. Whether that’s designing a logo for a friend’s family business, or being part of a team that brought COVID signage to the offices of an international corporation, I’m constantly trying to use empathy and creative thinking to best serve those I am designing for.

books i love

I strongly believe in continuous curiosity, personal growth, and exploring experiences different than ones I’ve lived. Here are a few of my favorite books, ranging from children’s stories to science fiction and business and marketing. I hope these offer an insight into the ways I think and who I am as a person and as a designer. I’ve included links to each book at the Harvard Book Store.

capturing memories

In addition to design, I am an avid photographer and enjoy capturing both the small, quiet moments as well as big life events. Below are some of my favorite photographs I’ve made over the past few years.
